The geology of the Capiru Group, Curitiba Terrane, Southern Ribeira Belt (Brazil)

The Capiru Group is a Neoproterozoic metasedimentary unit that crops out in the Curitiba terrane, Southern Ribeira Belt, Brazil. A detailed geological mapping of this was performed during 2016 to 2020. Original interpretations and new map were compiled integrated with past field data state (MINEROPAR) national (CPRM) surveys, unpublished recent published studies. This compilation represents most updated synthesis Group, provides basis for recognition individualization lithostratigraphic units. units reflect depositional/tectonic events, which involved: a) passive continental margin deposition on microplate, b) compressional episodes Brasiliano - Pan African Orogeny (Late Neoproterozoic), c) extensional processes followed collision stage (Cambrian), finally, d) tectonics related Gondwana break-up Lower Cretaceous, culminated Proto-Atlantic Ocean opening.
